Insulate exotic fruit trees

-

Put covers on exotic fruit such as figs, apricots, pomegranates and bananas to get them through the winter unscathed if your winters are mild and you are unable to bring them indoors. Fleece pegged over them is best as it protects them from the physical damage that the weather can bring but is also porous to keep the air flowing around them and prevent rots setting in. Watch the weather forecast and if extra frost protection is needed, use straw stuffed and tied loosely into the crown of the plant. Take the protection off next spring, particularly if your tree is flowering, to allow pollinators to get to them.
