Check on your stored harvest

-

Pull the covers off stored fruit and vegetables to check through them and remove any that are going off. This will prevent ruining the rest of the stored crop.

Apples, pears, root veg and squash can all be stored well into the spring but it’s worth looking for any that are either rotting or have wrinkled skins. It’s important that they are kept cool and dry to prevent rot.

Keep your fruit well away from the veg too as many fruit give off ethylene gas which speeds up the maturing process.
