Look after garden birds
Top up bird feeders regularly with high-energy bird seeds to keep a wide range of birds visiting your garden. Birds need extra energy to survive as the temperatures drop, so a mixture of nuts, seeds and fat balls are a welcome addition to their diet.
Expect to fill bird feeders weekly, clean them regularly and have some fresh water available for birds too. If squirrels are a problem, use meshcovered squirrel-proof feeders and posts with hanging feeders or weights to outwit these agile rodents.
