High-rise box

Best for Growing in small spaces

-

Max out your potato harvest from small gardens by going high-rise and building a potato box.

One square metre houses four potato plants. Join four 1m tall uprights with 1m planks to make a box. Add a second layer of planks, then fill with a 50:50 mix of topsoil and garden compost.

Plant seed potatoes in this bottom layer, then as they grow screw on more planks, filling each new layer with more soil and compost. To harvest, simply unscrew the planks.

Our plants grew well and the high-rise box kept foliage and tubers nicely contained. Harvesting was easy, if messy, and we collected a reasonable crop of beautifully clean, blemish-free tubers.
