Water plants in containers

-

Feel under the foliage of plants in pots to check whether they need watering. Don’t rely on rain to water your plants because it will usually just wet the foliage and won’t reach the soil.

The roots of bulbs and earlyflowering plants will be active enough to require some moisture even in winter. Lift the pot to feel the weight to be sure, because some composts, particularly those that are peat free, can be dry on top but quite wet lower down. Do this every couple of weeks and water sparingly to avoid waterlogging.
