Top-level park for Manchester
Manchester could get its own New York-style High Line if plans go ahead to convert a disused Victorian railway viaduct into a high-rise urban park. The National Trust is testing ideas for turning the 330m long Castlefield Viaduct into a ‘green oasis’ with a temporary version opening this summer, so visitors can see what the park might look like. “We want the viaduct to become a space people can use and be proud of,” said the Trust’s head of urban places, Duncan Laird.
