How to pot up plug plants

-

Growing plants from plugs is a cost-effective way of raising large numbers of bedding plants and is a good way to start off vegetable crops, such as lettuce and kale, when you want to control the number of plants you grow. Plug plants are ideal if space is limited because many plants can be grown in a small space when they are potted into cell trays.

As the plugs grow through spring they will need potting into bigger modules or small pots before planting out when the risk of frost has gone.

You will need

◼ Peat-free multipurpose compost

◼ Perlite

◼ Pencil or dibber

◼ Small pots or cell trays

◼ Watering can
