How to sow into small pots

1 Fill the pots with the compost. Keep pushing the compost down into the cell with your fingers as you fill up the tray.

2 Select the seed you want to sow. This method is best for flowers and crops that don’t like being disturbed.

3 Sow seed on the surface, cover it with sieved compost then sit the pots in tepid water until the compost is damp.

4 Place a label with plant name and date into the compost and keep the pots in a propagator or on a windowsill.
