Q Which holly would create privacy and have berries for birds?

-

Dennis Harrison, East Devon

A BOB SAYS Only female holly plants produce berries, and for pollination you usually have to plant a male and a female, unless there are already other hollies nearby. And, confusingly, some berrying females are called ‘King’ and some males ‘Queen’! However, ‘Pyramidalis’ produces berries, is self-fertile and grows nice and tall.
