How to prepare soil for veg

-

Most vegetable crops are ‘hungry’ plants that will need more food and nutrients than they can get from the soil alone, if they are to give a bumper crop. To help them get off to a good start, the addition of compost, manure or soil improver to the top of your soil surface will give an added boost of nutrients to young veg plants as well as improving water retention, so that moisture is available to the plant’s roots for longer, resulting in stronger growth.
