How to grow veg from plugs

-

Growing veg from plug plants is an easy and effective way to start a new crop. It is also a sensible choice for veg that you don’t want too much of, or if space is tight and you haven’t got room for extra plants. In summer, plant them on cool, cloudy days so the plants can settle in without exposure to strong sun. Check recently planted veg plugs every morning and water them if dry. If you buy trays of veg plants, keep them off the ground before you’re ready to plant, or slugs can ruin the whole lot in one sitting!

You will need

Trowel

Compost (homemade, to add to the planting hole)

Watering can

?? ?? Plant varieties of cut-and-come-again lettuce, such as ‘Lollo Rossa’, and you can harvest them a few leaves at a time as and when you need them
