Prune lavender
Prune lavenders now to tidy them up and stimulate plenty of new growth to prepare for flowering this summer.
Trim off all the spent flower stalks with secateurs or shears, and trim into thin stems to leave a neat, dome-shaped plant. Try not to cut back into thick, woody stems because new growth doesn’t easily sprout from very old wood.
The old growth is brittle and can make a lot of mess after pruning, so sweep it all up around the base of the plant and remove any weeds that you see while tidying.
