Keep picking sprouting broccoli

-

Pick sprouting broccoli while the flowers are still in tight bud. Use secateurs to cut out and harvest the top first. This will encourage more side shoots to develop and help keep your harvest going.

The side shoots will continue to grow and can usually be snapped out by hand. Hold them close to the base and pull them sharply away from the stem. More side shoots will appear but as the days get longer, the flowers open faster so you’ll need to pick more regularly to enjoy fresh stems.
