Make and put up insect hotels

-

Fill a box with mixed bundles of twigs, hollow stems and canes to attract and accommodate a variety of insect visitors.

Prepare stems by cutting to the same length then pack them together, making different sized gaps and fissures for insects to nest in.

It needs to be kept dry so a box with a roof is ideal. Put it up at about 1.5m high somewhere sheltered and out of direct sun. A wall or fence is ideal.

You’ll soon have a hotel full of pollinators and predators to help keep the pests at bay.
