Which evergreens can I use to hide an ugly oil tank?

HUMAIRA SAYS Yew is my favourite if your soil isn’t too wet, but it’s slow growing. My next choice is Osmanthus × burkwoodii, a shrub that can be clipped and has scented flowers in summer. Alternatively, put up trellis and grow climbers such as ivy or star jasmine (Trachelospermum) with scented white flowers.
Other options include a mixed hedge – native hedge mixes can be bought in packs and while not fully evergreen, they add variety and are beneficial for birds, small mammals and insects. Or consider a ‘dead hedge’ of interwoven cut stems and branches, which are also great habitats for wildlife. You can add climbing plants for extra visual appeal.
