Sow satisfying
I am surprised how often it is mentioned in your magazine to reuse or, at worst, buy seed trays and propagators when many of us buy fruit and veg in ideal and often stronger containers.
For several years, I have used supermarket containers as propagators. I cut or drill drainage holes in the bottom and then fit a clear container over the top. Here are my tomato seedlings at three weeks after sowing.
After planting out, the containers can be washed and reused and they don’t cost a penny. There is nothing more satisfying than growing your own and this is an easy option to reduce our reliance on new plastic.
