BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine

THE VIEW FROM OUR 2021 FINALISTS

-

We caught up with our three 2021 Gardens of the Year winners to find out what winning has meant to them and why you should make this the year you enter your own garden.

Nadine Mitschunas – Judge’s Choice “When I entered my allotment garden into the competition last spring, I never thought I’d have a chance of winning the Judge’s Choice. If you have a nice garden, there is nothing to lose by entering. Since winning I’ve been asked to help design a Beautiful Border inspired by my allotment at the BBC Gardeners’ World Live show.

Deanna & Rob Halsall – Highly Commended “We almost didn’t enter our garden – in fact I think we entered 10 minutes before the deadline! To win the Highly Commended award was a dream come true. We were new to gardening and knowing that such respected judges had chosen our plot was an amazing feeling. We’d encourage anyone in doubt like us to enter!”

Thomas Jose – People’s Choice When I received the magazine and discovered the results I couldn’t believe it! The whole experience was a great thrill and to make it so far in such a coveted competition is incredible motivation and reward for all the hard work. I have been persevering with the hobby with greater vigour than ever.
