You’ll find that a lawn grown from seed is tremendous­ly economical, and the only annual expense (if you operate the same regime as I do) is in those two annual feeds, which are relatively inexpensiv­e. Good turf will cost you around £4 or £5 per square metre; grass seed around £12 per kg – enough to sow around 55 square metres. Watering will be needed only in the establishm­ent period, which means that lawns sown in September should generally need little watering at all.
