The eglan­tine or sweet briar is sim­i­lar to the dog rose, but with per­fumed fo­liage that is rem­i­nis­cent of ap­ples, par­tic­u­larly af­ter rain. Sin­gle, pink flow­ers are fol­lowed by shiny, red, flagon-shaped hips with a long and pro­nounced ca­lyx. 1.8m x 1.8m. RHS H7, USDA 4a-9b.
