At Kaleidoscope Trust we believe it should never be illegal to be you, yet over 70 countries make it a crime for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people to be who they are and to love who they love. In many countries we still face violence, discrimination and persecution. Our work continues.

What we do

Kaleidoscope Trust works to uphold the rights of LGBTQ people internationally. We support and promote the social, political and legal changes needed to end discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity/expression so that LGBTQ people can live in freedom.

We work in close partnership with nearly 40 courageous activists from across the world through The Commonwealth Equality Network, which we helped found. We draw on their expertise and ensure their voices and priorities are heard in places they might not otherwise reach, to shape both public and political opinion.

In the UK, we influence the Government to be a global leader on prompting and defending LGBTQ rights. In Parliament, we convened the cross-party group of MPs which became the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Global LGBT Rights - now the biƒest in Parliament. We are also a founding member of the UK Alliance for Global Equality, a coalition of UK-based organisations working together to support progress and promote the human rights of LGBTQ people around the world.

Progress is possible and we have seen countries like Belize, India, Trinidad & Tobago, Seychelles, Nauru and Mozambique decriminalise homosexuality in the past few years.
