PLAY IT WITH SOUND.

It’s all good and well having a portable speaker to play anywhere you need it, but it’s useless if the sound gets dispersed in only one direction. Bang & Olufsen’s Beoplay P6 speaker comes with the brand’s effortlessly chic design, headed up here by the awar-winning Cecilie Manz. But more importantly, the P6 provides 360-degree sound meaning that whether you have it in the park, sitting on the side while you take a bath, or even by the pool on holiday, it doesn’t matter where you place it you’re guaranteed to have decent sound.

(The Beoplay P6 is available from bang-olufsen.com/en, priced £349)

PLAY IT OUT AND ABOUT.

We know Loewe are masters when it comes to making statement television sets, but how do they score on the speaker front? Their first foray into the portable speaker world with the klang m1 suests they know exactly what they’re doing. The luxury German brand have given it a stylish design, which can be seen here in a lovely shade of pastel pink. And aside from impeccable sound for a device portable enough to carry around hassle-free, the pocketsized speaker will automatically detect music as soon as it is streamed from a phone, tablet or handheld device. That’s the kind of seamless connectivity that such makes the whole experience so much more enjoyable.

(The Loewe klang m1 is available from loewe.tv, priced £169)

PLAY IT AND PARTY.

If you’re looking for an all-round party speaker that can really get things going, then look no further than Sony’s SRS-XB501G extra bass portable speaker. An angled satellite speaker, mica-reinforced cellular speaker cone, optimised sub-woofer and its rounded form delivers pitch-perfect sound quality to quickly fill a dance floor, while the incorporated light system will sync to the beat. Obviously it’s not a party without a flashing strobe. What’s more, with Google Assistant included, changing track or control the volume is just a simple voice command away.

(The SRS-XB501G Extra Bass speaker is available from sony.co.uk, priced £300)

PLAY IT TOGETHER.

Beats By Dre were practically pioneers of the portable Bluetooth speaker with their incredibly popular line of Beats Pill. The tech still very much delivers great sound and seamless connectivity – especially with iOS devices. However, the Beats Pill+ has a feature that I think we can all appreciate. Instead of only being able to connect to one person’s music device, the Pill+ allows the playlist to be controlled from two Bluetooth sources. Let the DJ battle commence! And if you want two Pill+ speakers to team up together to produce an even bier sound, that’s possible too.

(The Beats Pill+ is available now from beatsbydre.com, priced £179.95)
