Geo-graphic: biomass

In 2018 a group of scientists set out to create the most comprehensive estimate of the total biomass on Earth to date. Based on hundreds of studies, their analysis built a picture of all life on the planet and the comparative weight of different taxonomic groups. Plants are overwhelmingly dominant, with more than 80% of all biomass on Earth. Humans make up just 0.01 per cent of Earth’s life.
