Natural or synthetic?

Each fabric has its pluses and minuses. Cotton has a lower carbon footprint than synthetic fibre, and all natural fibres sequester atmospheric carbon. However, this can be offset because of high energy requirements for washing, drying and ironing. Growing cotton is also particularly environmentally damaging.
