Unsafe abortions

According to the World Health Organization, around 73 million induced abortions take place worldwide each year, amounting to six out of ten (61 per cent) of all unintended pregnancies, and three out of ten (29 per cent) of all pregnancies. Around 45 per cent of all abortions are unsafe, of which 97 per cent take place in developing countries. Of all unsafe abortions, onethird were performed under the least safe conditions – by untrained people using dangerous and invasive methods.
