The Cauldron

6-8 East Essex Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2

-

Hidden through Liquor Rooms under the Clarence Hotel (a secret entrance lies off a cobblestone street on the Temple Bar side of the building), the Cauldron also has locations in London, Edinburgh and NYC. Though not affiliated with Harry Potter in any way, the space gives off a distinct Potter, wizard school, fantasy-geek vibe. The multi-room space is lined with faux cauldrons from which you and black-robed (received as you enter) friends concoct drinks according to “potions” (recipes) given to your table. They sell tickets to the “experience” (€29.99-€34.99), which includes a welcome drink served from draft animal heads on the wall, and a group drink to enjoy together. You can stay on for more menu cocktails of your choice. Gin is featured in both group cocktails and on the Signature Potion’s Menu, with drink effects ranging from flames to liquid nitrogen smoke.
