Nose: A combination of herbal anise and sweet grain, a little like rye bread.

Palate: Creamy, grainy and smooth, like a slice of rye bread with a thick layer of butter. Juniper and coriander come through and complement with gentle citrus.

Finish: Drying notes of baking spice and continuing sweet grain. Warming, but pleasantly so.

Comments: The rye bread character in this gin surprised and delighted me, and could make it a good substitute in a whiskybased cocktail.

Nose: An intense nose with dark, bready, almost rye-like aromas that are also joined by floral citrus.

Palate: A plentiful supply of coriander that complements the gin’s grainy character. Slightly smoky savoury flavours, along with toasted juniper.

Finish: A relatively soft finish of lightly sweet toffee apple.

Comments: The depth, complexity, and intensity of this gin brings to mind one cocktail only: an equalparts Negroni.
