Nose: Bloody Mary! Tomato juice, spicy Worcestershire sauce, celery, salt and pepper. Then a sweetness like stewed plums emerges.

Palate: Ginger and aniseed spice notes emerge alongside vegetal sweetness and bolder juniper. A flash of Worcestershire sauce.

Finish: A nice spicy warmth as it fades with ginger, lemon, piney juniper, and a touch of angelica.

Comments: A pleasant gin with an interesting evolution of flavours. It’d stay true to the nose and serve it in a Red Snapper.

MASTER OF MALT David

Nose: A gentle, green seediness with a little woody bark and then fresh, green resinous and citrus aromas.

Palate: The palate starts with spicy citrus that quickly morphs into earthy, rooty notes of angelica, which add dryness, and then some orris, which adds the sweetness of crystallised violets.

Finish: A hint of bitter orange, more earthiness, and a lingering, resinous pineiness.

Comments: A fragrant gin and, given its rooty, floral aspects, I’d love to try it in an Aviation.
