Make it easier for the people

- Caroline Vaughan Porthcawl

IN order to introduce or change the way BCBC do things it has to be justified by fitting in with a policy or objective already laid down.

I was astounded to read the rationale behind the residual waste collection dispensation for properties with more than six occupants.

In the report to Cabinet of November 29 it is stated that the proposals satisfy the “connection to corporate improvement objectives/other corporate priorities” in that the proposal is “helping people to become more self - reliant. Individuals and families that will be more independent and less reliant on traditional council services.” In other words shift it yourself!

We’d better brace for an increase in fly tipping throughout the county borough.

BCBC should look to the Ceredigion Council recycling rate of 68.1% compared to ours of 59%, they achieve this by making the system easier for people to recycle. Mixed recycling all goes into clear recycling bags, there’s no carrying of two dripping wet black boxes and a dripping blue bag, in some cases through your home.

Ceredigion Council currently have no limit on the number of landfill sacks that are collected fortnightly so achieving the recycling rate they do is all down to the simplicity of the system.

When a council does something better than yours copy them! Stop wasting resources finding your own flawed system.
