Kenfig Hill Choir: Kenfig Hill and District Male Voice Choir will be giving their Annual St David’s Day Concert on March 1, at the Community Centre, Heol Las, North Cornelly.

Luncheon Club: This is held every Tuesday and Thursday at Cornelly Community Centre, from 12.15pm for 12.30pm. Cost is just £4.50 for three courses plus tea or coffee and biscuits.

Christmas Trees: With huge relief the Christmas trees were removed last Friday.

The two trees, one in Mawdlam the second on Hall Drive seemed to be taking root.

Bridgend County Highways rang me last Thursday following my complaint, indicating they were to be removed on Friday – the trees have now gone!

Wedding Cake: Happi ly at last Wedneday’s meeting of Cornelly Community Council, they agreed to purchase my suggested ‘wedding cake’ for Cornelly Cross.

This is a 5 tier planter that will be sited on the junction of Heol Fach/ Fairfield, from Boverton Nurserey.

That is huge area of tarmac, and I have long since wanted some colour for that drab spot.

I’m also in discussion with Corneli Primary School who I know are looking for a ‘school garden’ they can then plant. Being just outside the school gate, this could be a useful asset to them.

Hundreds of potentially future stars played their part in this well attended round-robin competition.

The Valley Ravens welcomed mini sections from Gilfach Goch, Treorchy and Bryncethin to fortress Lawrence.

A huge thank you to everybody who helped to make the day a huge success in ice cold conditions.

The tea and coffee stall was very busy all morning! Results as follows: Under 7s – lost 6-7. Under 8s – won 7-5, the Player of the Match was Seren Waite.

Under 9/10s – lost 0-2, Player of Match was Morgan Lever. Under 12s – won 45-0. Dance and Drama Workshops: Valley and Vale are run free children’s workshops at the Workmen’s Hall in Blaengarw, from 4pm5pm for the under 11 age group and from 5pm-7pm for the 12-16 age group.

It takes place at Lawrence Park, Pontycymer and kick-off will be at 2.30pm.

There will refreshment stalls available on the day, and after the match there will be a Grand Raffle and Auction at the clubhouse.

It is hoped the Valley Ravens mini rugby team will be playing a curtain raiser before the main event.

All money raised will go to Cancer UK and to the Prostate Cancer charities. Pyle Community Council are deeply saddened by the news of Megan Butcher’s passing. Deepest sympathies are sent to her family at this sad time.
