Fox & Hounds: Why not come along on the last Thursday of the month (February 23) to join in the pub quiz. Fish & chip supper on Mondays for eat in or take out.

Village Market: Next event will be held on March 10 from 10am in the Church Hall, St Brides. Many stalls and seasonal items. Tea & Chat will also be meeting and the library will be open for customers.

Women’s Institute: Southerndo­wn WI next meeting is at 7.15pm on March 9 in St Bride’s Major Church Hall.

Local Elections: Candidates and Agents Briefing Sessions are being held in the Vale of Glamorgan Civic Offices, Barry, as follows: Thursday, February 23 from 2pm to 4pm in Committee Room 2 and from 6.30pm - 8.30pm in Committee Room 1 On Friday, March 3 from 9.30am - 11.30am in the Council Chamber.

Ewenny festival: South Wales Clarinet Choir concert at 7.30pm on March 23 in Ewenny Priory Church. On Thursday, April 6 at 7.30pm A Regular Little Houdini written and performed by Daniel Llewelyn-Williams. Tickets £10.

St Bridget’s Church: Charity of the month is The National Autistic Society.

Knit & Natter: Come along at 10.30am on the third Tuesday of the month (February 20) to All Saints, Southerndo­wn.

Village Library: Open on Wednesdays from 3.30pm-6pm and Saturdays from 10am-12 noon in the Church Hall, St Brides Major.

The library is run by a friendly team of volunteers and there is a good selection of books from Llantwit Major Library which are changed on a regular basis.

You can also purchase green garden waste bags, blue recycling bags, black refuse sacks and compostabl­e kitchen waste bags, at various prices, and obtain free dog waste bags.

Zumba Class: Meet on Mondays in St Brides Major Primary School, from 8pm-9pm.

Tea & Chat: A friendly open meeting from 10.30am-12noon every Saturday in the Church Hall, St Brides Major.

On Saturday, visitors and members of Tea & Chat had an opportunit­y to catch up with a Guide Dog puppy walker from Llantwit Major and her young charge, a Labrador called Cilla.

It was good to hear that Seren has completed her training and is doing well with an owner Ifracombe.

Keep Fit: Classes held every Tuesday at 7pm in the Scout Hall, St Brides Major. Take along a mat or old bath towel for floor work. Nothing too strenuous. All welcome.

The school launched their project with a visit from poet Francesca Kay. She led poetry workshops with both classes based around a thought provoking question agreed by the children themselves.

The project will continue with workshops led by musician Larry and artist Becky.

In May D3 and D4 will have the opportunit­y to showcase their work at St David’s Hall in Cardiff.

College Show: The Atlantic College Internatio­nal Show is being held at St Donat’s Art Centre on Friday, March 17 and Saturday, March 18. Tickets cost £5 and £6.

New Vicar: Craig Vaughan, the new Team Vicar, should be moving into the Wick Vicarage in early March and his licensing will be in St Illtud’s Church, Llantwit Major on Monday, March 27, at 7.30pm.
