LEAGUE leaders Pyle RFC B got back to winning ways after a comfortabl­e 9-2 win over the USC A.

The trios of Joe Williams, Martin Rees and Rob Allen followed by Kevin Allen, Jarad Vanagas and Paul Green set the pace early. The pairs then of Williams/Vanagas, Green/Rees and the Allens extended the score to 5-0. In the singles, Rees took the match to make it 6-0 but the USC finally got going with two wins for Jamie Walmsley and Paul Denyer. The match was wrapped up for the RFC with wins for Green, Allen and Williams. The RFC now sit just a point clear of the Picton Z at the top. In the fours, a 2-1 win for the RFC means they lead the fours with a five point cushion.

The Picton Z kept the pressure on the top with a needed 8-3 win over the Sea Horse. The threes were shared with a SeaHorse win for Lee Bowen, Martin Cavill and Stuart Kilpatrick and a Picton win for Steve Gillet, Wayne Joseph and Dai Thomas. Thomas and Billy Absalom then made it 2-1 to the Picton before Sean Fisher and Paul Davies levelled it. Gillet and Joseph then put the Picton in front again at 3-2. In the singles, wins for Dan Thompson, Wayne Joseph, Tim Williams and Steve Gillet put the Picton 7-2 up. Martin Cavill stopped the rot for the Sea Horse but Billy Absalom put the point on the end. 180s came from Lee Bowen and Wayne Joseph. In the fours, the Picton won 2-1.

The Greenacre continued their good form with a 7-4 win over the Prince A. The Prince led with a threes win for Gary Williams, Ian Mitchelmor­e and Mike Clarke and a pairs win for a 180 hitting Rob Cohen and Gary Williams with the Acres taking a win for the three of Mark Grabham, Wayne Morris and Dai Payne.

The Acres tandem of Grabham and Payne equalised before Phil Evans and Mike Payne nudged the Acres 3-2 ahead. In the singles, Rob Cohen put the Prince level again but it was at that point Dai Astley, Phil Evans, and Alwyn Rees won the match for the Acres. Ian Mitchelmor­e gained a consolatio­n for the Prince but the game was put to bed by Mark Grabham. In the fours, the Prince gained a measure of revenge with a 3-0 win.
