This is a charter for fly-tippers

- Glen Chandler Bridgend

HAVING read your article in the Gazette for February 9 outlining BBCC method for refuse collections and also the article on their own website , I can only say here is an open fly-tippers charter.

They got most of it right but in one obvious area are asking for trouble.

People are to be forced to separate their items before they take them to these new fangled sites staffed by those who will have the power to say “no way in here mate”.

What is the point in sorting at home, putting out for collection and then sorting the same items and taking them to the centre themselves?

What do we do with the stuff that does not fit the described recyclable items?

People will still have black bags (every shop sells them) and if they are/will be refused (forgive the pun) at these grandly named sites where do you think they will end up?

How much does cleaning up fly-tipping cost now? If this ban on black bags comes about, the cost of cleaning up will triple.

Who gets the blame? The public of course. Not the shortsighted jobsworth idiot who is responsible for this edict.

Another thing, what do we do with the black boxes? Guess where they will end up. Also a bin the size of the large brown food bin for glass is laughable. Why not try and save money and use existing black boxes for glass. If there is a need to keep paper and cardboard separate by all means issue new bags for these.

So when costs spiral the council will have another reason to cut services rather than cut the slice of council tax taken to provide their pensions.
