Table Top Sales: At Coytrahen Community Centre on the first Saturday of every month from 8am-12noon.

Future dates are May 6, June 3 and July 1. Tables cost £5 each.

Aberkenfig Allotments: The Aberkenfig Allotment Associatio­n shop is situated in the allotments at Sandfields Road Aberkenfig.

It’s open every Sunday from 10am-noon with a variety of products at good prices on sale.

Smyrna Penyfai: The Sunday school would like to invite the children of the surroundin­g area who are aged four and over to join them on Sunday morning, from 10.30am -noon for stories, singing and fun with arts and craft work.

All are very welcome to the service and to join for refreshmen­ts in the vestry afterwards.

Coffee morning is held on Tuesday, from 10am-noon with good company and a raffle is also held in aid of local charities.

Bible study takes place on Thursday evening at 7.15pm and is led in turn by Mrs Marlyn James and Miss Dorithy Evans.

Hospital Service: The next Hospital Christian Fellowship service at the Princess of Wales Hospital will be held on Friday, May 5, in the Hospital Chapel with Tom Stables from Bridgend leading the 3pm service.

All are very welcome to attend, you will be made very welcome.

Local History: Bridgend Local and District History Society have now finished their autumn and winter sections with their annual AGM.

The chairman and secretary, remain the same, the treasurer Charles Thorp has said he will stand down next year, two members join the committee Cheryl Hart and Ian Price who will handling research queries.

The new season will start on Wednesday, September 13, at 7pm with Allan Underhill giving an illustrate­d talk on the subject of Images of Bridgend.

Registrati­on will also be held on the same evening and the joining fee still stands at £7 and visitors £2.

War Memorial Project: A project is about to start with identifyin­g the local men who are remembered on our War Memorial in Dunraven Place who fell during WWII.

Bridgend Communitie­s First: A free learning Welsh morning will be held at Carnegie House on Tuesday, April 25 between 10am and 12pm. Come along and built your confidence in speaking basic Welsh.

Enjoy finding out about the history of the language, bilinguali­sm, as well as learning some basic Welsh phrases.

No prior knowledge needed, just a passion to learn

A free flower arranging session is also being held at Wildmill Community Centre this Thursday, April 27 from 1pm -3pm.

Come along and learn the skills of flower arranging and learn how to design and make a beautiful bouquet.

Coffee Mornings: These continue every Friday and Saturday, from 10am-12noon at Bridgend United Church Tondu Road all are very welcome. Go along and enjoy a lovely cuppa with friendly people and of course all are very welcome.

Step Back in Time: On Saturday June 10, Bridgend will step back in time to WWII.

The Town centre will be transforme­d back to the 1940s with demonstrat­ions, period games and activities that were common place during the war and the 1940s.

Many of the activities will be educationa­l for people of all ages. Activities will include WWII Toy Soldier Painting, 1940s cooking Poppy Making, School Life and Period Games and lots more.

Live music entertainm­ent will take place throughout the day.

A Winston Churchill ‘sound’ and ‘look-alike’ will also make an appearance around the town.

There will also be historical guided walks by John Dunkley-Williams, a photograph­ic exhibition by Bridgend and District Local History Society, and a wartime display from Michael Ridley.

This event will be a unique experience in historical terms for the Bridgend area and will be great fun for all the family.

It will be staged throughout Bridgend town centre Saturday, June 10, from 10am-5pm. June 18, from 2pm price £11.

Festival Week: Preparatio­ns are already taking place for this wonderful annual event in the Kenfig Hill and Pyle Community. This year the theme is Flower Power.

Festival week commences on Saturday, June 24 until Sunday, July 2, with Fun Day on Saturday July 1.

Noteworthy in Concert: Described as ‘the best mixed choir in Wales’ – come along and see if you agree! Noteworthy will be performing at St Theodore’s Church, High Street, Kenfig Hill on Saturday, May 13, at 7pm.

Led by musical director Ryan Wood, Noteworthy is based in Maesteg and was formed in 2006.

Ryan is building an impressive reputation as a musical director not only with Noteworthy but also with Bridgend Male Voice Choir.

He is also in great demand as an accompanis­t and has performed with Pendyrus Male Voice Choir, Only Men Aloud, Cantare and many others.

Please come along to an evening of high quality music and help support the church’s heating fund.

St Theodore’s church is used by many in the community, whether it be brides, babies at christenin­gs, those attending school concerts, all who attend Remembranc­e and many other civic services.

The church needs an efficient and economical heating system so that all who use the building can be warm and comfortabl­e.

Bethel Community Church: Breakfast is served on Tuesdays between 10am and midday.

I recently met some fabulous people over breakfast and was very moved by the incredibly warm welcome I received.

Bethel Community Church is situated in Pwllygath Street, Kenfig Hill.

KPC Youth & Community: Messy Play Sessions are available on Tuesdays 10am-11am.

This a fabulous opportunit­y for toddlers to explore and learn about textures through play while their parents, grandparen­ts or carers have a chat and a cuppa, socialise and make new friends.

The Night-Owls Group meet on the third Thursday of the month at 7pm.

The Daytime Group meets on the last Thursday of the month at 2pm.

The Teenage Group (12-19 years old) meets on the second Thursday of the month.

The Junior Reading Group (8-12 years old) meet on the 2 Tuesday of the month.

Bounce and Rhyme meets on a Friday at 10am.

Mothers’ Union: Establishe­d since 1930 the Parish of Pyle and Kenfig Mothers Union meet at the Parish Hall in Pyle every third Tuesday of the month at 7pm, from April – October.

They are also holding a coffee morning on Saturday, May 6 at 10.30am in the Parish Hall in aid of Mothers’ Union Projects.
