BARRIE Goode was in good form over the Easter weekend at Southerndown, claiming the Commoner’s Bogey Cup.
The Easter Bank Holiday Monday competition attracted 88 members with the format only played on an annual basis.
It involved nett birdies or better rewarded with a plus; pars achieved parity while bogeys or worse got a minus.
Goode took the honours on +4 from Lewis Phillips and Matthew Lewis, who both finished with +3 while Wynne Walters achieved +2.
In Division Two of the competition, Phil Rees edged out C Embling and Dave Dickinson on +2.
This Friday, Southerndown will meet Pontypridd at the Creigiau club in a Welsh Team Championship Victory Shield qualifier.
In the latest Hanner Ffordd competition, three pars got the job done for C D Jones, who was declared winner with 39 Stableford points.
Stephen Lewis was two points back; T Grant entered the clubhouse with 37 while C E Morris, G Stephens and Keith James all matched par on the 36mark.
In the second round of the Senior Section Harold Gould tournament, Barrie Davies claimed victory with 37 Stableford points.
His winning card was down to matching par five times, and a countback victory came at the expense of T Grant.
Third-placed Eifion Davies scored 35 points and was followed on the scoresheet by 34-point men K Lewis and Viv Sheppard, who finished one point in front of Ken Davies and Bill Goldsworthy.
Last weekend, D P Bon- ney got a bonny 43 points to win a Yellow Box Stableford event, shooting birdies on holes six and 13 while matching par on 12 occasions.
Runner-up Colum Sullivan scored 40 points (birdie on hole six and nine pars) to finish in front of D L Edwards 38, Jamie Webb 37 and Mark Wayne Beattie par 36.
