Blaengarw Cricket Club: This Saturday, May 27, Blaengarw Cricket Club will play a home fixture against Whitchurch Cricket Club at Darren Park.

The match begins at 1pm and the Can Bar will be open all afternoon to serve refreshmen­ts.

Next Saturday, June 3, Blaengarw Cricket Club will travel to Glyn Park to face Miskin Manor Cricket Club. The match starts at 1pm.

Garw SBGC: Next season, Garw SBGC will be running an under 18s football team.

Training will commence on June 29 at Blandy Park, Pontycymer. The team will be training twice a week and home games will be played at Blandy Park. There are no weekly or training subs, just a monthly £5 membership fee per player.

Garw Valley Heritage Society: This week the society will be holding an exhibition displaying many aspects of Betws and Garw life over the years.

The event takes place in the main hall of the Betws Community Club from this Thursday, May 25 until Saturday, May 27 inclusive, and is open from 10am4.30pm.

Entrance is free; there is plenty of car parking, and refreshmen­ts are available at the bar or cafe.

Garw Valley Railway: Next Monday, May 29 is the first open day of 2017 for the Garw Valley Railway. The shed, in Old Station Yard, Pontycymer, will be open to visitors from 11am-3pm with various things to see and do. Free admission.

Pontycymer RFC: This Saturday, May 27, Pontycymer Rugby Club hold their annual Presentati­on Night at the clubhouse in Oxford Street. Tickets cost £10 each which includes live music and buffet. Doors open 7pm-late.

Prostate Cymru Charity Day: After the success of the charity day at Lawrence Park on Saturday, April 22, Pontycymer RFC are proud to announce that the grand total raised for Prostate Cymru is a staggering £7,379.

On Tuesday, May 16, at Pontycymer Rugby Club, former Wales scrum half Ray Giles, the patron for Prostate Cymru, received the cheque on behalf of the charity.

PACT News: The next PACT meeting for Llangeinor will be at the Richard Price Centre on June 7 at 5pm.

The next PACT meeting for Pontycymer/Blaengarw will be at Pontycymer Police Station, Victoria Street on June 7 at 6pm.
