WELSH PREMIERSHIP DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE

-

PENYBONT .................... 0 SWANSEA CITY ............ 0

NOT too many pundits would have called a goalless outcome to this Southern Division clash last Sunday at the Kymco Stadium, writes Tony Poole.

The Swans Development side have run up some big scores during their inaugural season in the league.

Included on the list is a 7-0 success over Bont in the reverse fixture at Llandarcy Park back in September.

But the rematch was a different kettle of fish with both defences difficult to penetrate.

The best Bont chance fell in the first half to ex-Llan Ranger Thomas Davies, but he failed to make it count.

At the request of manager Nigel Jordan different goalkeepers were used in each half – Jonny Davies in the first period and Joe Regan in the second.

Turning to the Ivy Cot- tages Welsh Youth League, Penybont squandered a two-goal lead during a 3-2 defeat at STM Sports.

First-half Goals from Robbie Regan and star player Evan Denscombe placed Boxer Borge’s side in the box seat.

But it was 2-1 at the turnaround, and the capital city youngsters went on to take the spoils.

However, Bont did have a chance to exit with a point late on only for substitute Nathan Thomas to fail in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper.

Finally, in the Welsh Women’s League, Penybont Ladies crashed to a 7-2 defeat against Briton Ferry Llansawel at Cwrt Herbert.

The Bont goal scorers were Ashton Morgan and Bethan Davies.
