BRIDGEND & DISTRICT DARTS LEAGUE

-

IT WAS the final round of games in Division Two this week and with three teams involved in the chase for the title it turned out to be a exciting night of darts.

Leaders the GWR B had a healthy lead at the start of the night as they looked to secure the points needed in their home game against the Cabo, but it was the away side who took a early lead as they claimed the threes 2-0. The railway men fought back to edge the pairs but still trailed 3-2 at the break.

John Hillman levelled things up as he took the opening singles leg for the canteen but Gary Reffell put the Cabo back in front as he won the next. Gareth Davies made the game all-square again at 4-4 as he claimed the next for the home side before the Cabo hit back as they took the next three legs through Chris Hyde, Mike Cox and Chris Lewis. Craig Hillman claimed the final leg for the canteen but it was the Cabo who ran out 7-5 victors.

Despite this defeat the five points was enough for the railway men to take the Division Two title and promotion to Division One next season.

Joint second placed the Cabo Kings had home advantage in their derby game against neighbours the Coach Drivers.

The Kings got off to a flying start as they lead 4-1 after the opening exchanges in the threes and pairs. Into the singles and the Drivers upped a gear as Cai Loughran, Ollie Ladbrooke, Mark Davies and Gethin Still rattled off four games on the trot to put the Coach 5-4 in front and put a dent into the Kings’ promotion hopes. The Kings men rallied late to take the last three legs for a hard fought 7-5 victory but it was not enough as the BUSC B piped them to second spot with a 8-4 victory over the Two Brewers.

The final game in league two saw the West House finish off their league campaign with a 9-3 win over the BUSC A.

In Division One, with two games to go, the Penybont have wrapped up yet another league title with an 8-4 victory over the Coity A. Ray Johnson hitting a 180 for the footballers.

The battle for the runners-up spot looks a lot closer now with just three points separating the Coity B and the Social. The Social played a double header in a rearranged game against the GWR A with the Aberkenfig boys coming out on top 9-3 in both games. Roy Mills hitting a 16-dart leg for the Railway men.

The Coity B remain second with a 10-2 success over the Five Bells. Steve Price hitting a 180 for the Coity.

The final game in Division One saw the Colliers claim some valuable points in their battle to avoid relegation as they went down 8-4 away to the Jolliers.

Huw Anthony hitting a 180 for the Coalmen whilst there was a 15-dart leg from Russell Wilks and a 123 out for Roy Davies for the Jolliers.
