AFC WHITCHURCH ...... 6 LLANGEINOR ................ 4

LLANGEINOR did the Celtic Tyres Bridgend & District League proud in taking AFC Whitchurch close at The Dog Track in Rhydyfelin, writes Tony Poole.

The Llan lads were twice in front, at 1-0 and 3-2, only to eventually lose out to the high-flying Highadmit South Wales Alliance Division One side.

A sizzling hat-trick from ex-Betws star Simon Lock allied to an own-goal kept them in the tie, but Whitchurch went on to set up a final showdown on May 5 with Division One rivals Penrhiwceiber Con Athletic at White Tips in Treforest.

Meanwhile, Llan were crowned Celtic Tyres Bridgend & District League champions last Monday night after gaining an overwhelming 11-1 win at Llanharan.

On a senior debut Gregory Tomos Sage scored twice and there were also goal braces from Rhys Dyke and Corey Jenkins.

Single strikes went against the names of Morgan Cowdrey, Liam Ward, Lewis Bissmire, Jonny Davies and Lewis Morgan.

They set it up for Monday night with crucial back-toback 2-0 away victories.

Having previously taken a championship decider at Maesteg Park – Simon Lock netting in a key 1-0 win at Tudor Park – the Llan lads triumphed at Brynna with goals from Ward and Dyke.

That left Brackla as a major obstacle to their title ambitions, but goals from Dyke and Bissmire did the trick on this occasion.

Llan complete league fixtures home to Broadlands on Monday ahead of going into the SWFA playoffs in an attempt to gain membership of Highadmit South Wales Alliance.

Long-time leaders Maesteg Park gained a 4-1 home win over Brackla with Steffan Roberts knocking in a hat-trick and Keane Watts also on target. But they were then held to a 4-4 draw by Bryncae in Llanilid on Monday evening which triggered celebrations in Llangeinor.
