PENRHIWCEIBER CON ATH ........................ 2 GARW ............................. 5

IT WAS a case of as you were last Saturday at the top with the four promotion-chasing clubs all

But with games running out for second-placed Trebanog, things are suddenly looking bright for Garw, Cefn Cribwr and FC Cwmaman.

And with the Blandy boys eyeing another championship, they continue to only trail table-topping Cefn Cribwr by five points with in hand.

Though Garw fell a goal behind in the Cynon Valley, they soon steadied a rocking boat and built control.

And with goals going in at regular intervals, they went on to complete the double over doughty opponents, who lost 2-1 against the Blandy boys last month at Bridgend two games super club Penybont.

Two goals from Leroy Thomas helped to set up the win; twins Harry and Oliver Davies were also on the scoresheet while there was a sixth goal of the campaign to cherish from Lewis James.

Another two away fixtures now await Garw – they head for Tonyrefail tonight (Wednesday) while on Saturday they journey Barry.

Meanwhile, Garw Reserves were also in tiptop form in Celtic Tyres Bridgend League Division One, defeating Caerau 5-2 at Blandy.

Box office attraction John Lewis was at his impish best, and this had a lot to do with the Blandy boys turning around 4-0 up.

Elliot Sage, son of club to Cadoxton superstar Mark, was on target as were Rhys Thomas, Brett Hughes, electric sweeper Dai Broom and Lewis Davies.

Others mentioned in Pontycymer despatches were goalkeeper Harri Lewis and Jack Toomey.

And this Saturday local bragging rights will be up for grabs when Garw Reserves host their Llangeinor counterparts.
