A LATE Paul Evans equaliser salvaged a point for Caerau at bottom club

Thomas Krauze was the man who received a somewhat harsh red card midway through the second period. the month beaten Cwm, 6-0, at home, the rematch was a different kettle of fish.

Though they had the lead early on, Mason Roach chiselled the goal, Cwm were 2-1 up going in to last knockings.

And though Pencoed were down to 10 men, Evan Price the unfortunate player to see red following a mass dust up, jack in the box Jack Delve popped up with a classy equaliser.

In Division One, Cornelly United were held to a 1-1 draw away to South Wales Senior Cup finalists AFC Whitchurch.

Though Dann Jones drilled home a free kick on 25 minutes to get the Wasps buzzing, goalkeeper Luke Jones was then injured.

Despite damaging a foot he played on, and the equaliser came on 50 minutes from Josh Spencer with both settling for a point.

In Division Two, promotion-seeking Vale United gained a 3-1 win over St Joseph’s in the Welsh capital.

The boys from leafy Corntown were grateful to Ryan Jenkins, who got all three goals during the opening half.

Injuries led to an understrength Caerau squad heading east, and they got off to the worst possible start when Chris Jones gave Treowen an early lead.

Though the pace of Krauze and Lewis Kingdon, supported by Kyle Dickinson and flying wasp Nathan Watkins, was a constant threat, the River- boaters failed to score.

And it could have got worse for Caerau if Matt Prosser hadn’t missed a sitter just ahead of the half-time whistle.

However, the introduction for the second half of golden boy Dale Price and Jack Page did pep them up.

Krauze was then cut down in the box on 50 minutes, and Page converted the penalty to move on to 12 goals for the campaign.

And not long after Krauze was sent off, Jones gave Stars back the lead, leaving the 10 remaining Riverboaters in a sink or swim situation.

They chose to swim, however, even with goal- keeper Josh Rowlands playing at centre-half for injured Ryan Morgan.

The equaliser in the 76th-minute stemmed from a free kick that Evans drove towards goal, and a deflection took it in.
