AM and MP will promote small firms

-

IN the run up to this year’s Small Business Saturday on December 1, Huw IrrancaDavies AM and Chris Elmore MP are helping to promote some brilliant examples of entrepreneurship in Ogmore.

The politicians are asking independent retailers, microbusinesses and local businesses to get in touch with details about their success story.

The pair will then promote the outlets by sharing their details through social media channels.

Last year, Maesteg based Airpix Aerial Images was proudly chosen as one of Small Business Saturday’s 100 winners which saw owner Jem Laugharne invited to a reception at 10 Downing Street.

From humble beginnings, Linda Wongham and her Assisted Mobility Services have also gone on to win Bridgend Business Forum’s Entrepreneur of the Year 2018 award along with the HRH Prince Charles Charity Prime Cymru award.

Mr Irranca-Davies said: “I’m always amazed by the level of talent we have across the constituency and it’s great to hear about the success of these small businesses which very often start as just a great idea.

“It’s been good to be able to bang the drum for local businessmen and women in the past and I hope others will get in touch so we can help promote their business ventures. Chris and I will continue to support small businesses in any way we can in the future.”

Mr Elmore said: “Small businesses are vitally important for our local economies and help to maintain a positive community spirit. It’s been so positive to learn more about some truly excellent examples of commerce across Ogmore.”
