MEMBERS of a Bridgend community group are celebrating after receiving nearly £1,000 in funding.

Cwm Ogwr Men’s Shed has been awarded £990 by from Royal Voluntary Service and the Asda Foundation.

Designed and run by their members, Sheds provide opportunities for local people to share tools, resources and expertise and to make things, learn new skills and make friends. They also help reduce loneliness and isolation.

Ben North from Cwm Ogwr Men’s Shed said: “Since opening our door to the Ogmore Valley in June, we’ve had a steady flow of shedders join our ranks, but we have been continually frustrated at the lack of resources we have to attract new members.

“Thanks to Royal Voluntary Service and the Asda Foundation, we are able to further develop our activities and open them up to more men from our Valley.”
