Res­i­dents star in fes­tive com­pe­ti­tions

PUPILS and shops in Maesteg have been get­ting into the Christ­mas spirit by tak­ing part in two lo­cal con­tests.

Maesteg Town Coun­cil spon­sors a win­dow dress­ing com­pe­ti­tion for lo­cal stores and a poster de­sign con­test for schools in the town.

Daisy’s Florist at Bowring­ton Ar­cade won the win­dow com­pe­ti­tion.

Own­ers Lynne Price and Susan Paget cre­ated an eye-catch­ing dis­play us­ing tra­di­tional fes­tive colours of red, green and gold to show off their range of gifts and flo­ral dis­plays.

Maesteg Mayor Lynne Bee­dle was ex­tremely pos­i­tive about the ef­fort that busi­nesses had put in.

Evie Grif­fiths won the school poster com­pe­ti­tion and was re­warded with a £50 voucher and the hon- our of switch­ing on the town’s Christ­mas lights. She was thrilled to ar­rive at the event in a limou­sine with her fam­ily.

Evie later at­tended a re­cep­tion at the coun­cil of­fices where she re­ceived her framed poster from Cllr Bee­dle.
