Residents star in festive competitions
PUPILS and shops in Maesteg have been getting into the Christmas spirit by taking part in two local contests.
Maesteg Town Council sponsors a window dressing competition for local stores and a poster design contest for schools in the town.
Daisy’s Florist at Bowrington Arcade won the window competition.
Owners Lynne Price and Susan Paget created an eye-catching display using traditional festive colours of red, green and gold to show off their range of gifts and floral displays.
Maesteg Mayor Lynne Beedle was extremely positive about the effort that businesses had put in.
Evie Griffiths won the school poster competition and was rewarded with a £50 voucher and the hon- our of switching on the town’s Christmas lights. She was thrilled to arrive at the event in a limousine with her family.
Evie later attended a reception at the council offices where she received her framed poster from Cllr Beedle.
