As­so­ci­a­tion nets £2,000 do­na­tion from house builder

SPORTS clubs in Brid­gend are among the lat­est good causes to se­cure fund­ing through Per­sim­mon Homes’ Com­mu­nity Cham­pi­ons scheme.

Each month Per­sim­mon Homes do­nates up to £2,000 to com­mu­nity groups in each of its 31 geo­graph­i­cal op­er­at­ing ar­eas.

This up to £62,000 dished out sin­gle month to­tal of £744,000 a year, and more than £2m means is ev­ery – a since the scheme started back in 2015.

Ed­ward Wilkins, chair­man of The Brid­gend As­so­ci­a­tion of Bowls, Ten­nis, Squash Clubs Com­mu­nity In­ter­est Com­pany, said: “We have em­barked on a pro­ject to raise £30,000 to pro­vide ad­di­tional flood light­ing and court play­ing sur­faces in Brid­gend.

“This will have sig­nif­i­cant ben­e­fits dur­ing the win­ter and spring months, in­creas­ing our ca­pac­ity by an es­ti­mated 50%.

“We have a lot of fundrais­ing to go, but we are hugely grate­ful to Per­sim­mon Homes for their gen­eros­ity.”

Sharon Bouhali, sales di­rec­tor at Per­sim­mon Homes West Wales, said: “We’re de­lighted to get 2019 off flyer with do­na­tions.
