Lorry col­li­sion vic­tim was ‘loved dearly’ by fam­ily

THE fam­ily of a great­grand­fa­ther who died af­ter be­ing hit by a lorry said they “loved him dearly”.

David Blin­man, 88, died at the scene af­ter he was hit by a lorry in Og­more Vale, Brid­gend, on De­cem­ber 28, at 1.15pm.

Pay­ing trib­ute to him, his fam­ily said: “For more than 65 years he lived and loved his Og­more Vale, where his two chil­dren Jef­frey and Cather­ine were born and resided.

“Grand­fa­ther to four grand­chil­dren and four great-grand­chil­dren who loved him too dearly.

“In his life, David loved his snooker and often placed bets on the horses.

“He will be sorely missed by his fam­ily and friends.”

The crash hap­pened at the junc­tion of Blandy Ter­race and Rail­way Ter­race.

Act­ing In­spec­tor Gareth Morgan, from the Roads Polic­ing Unit, said: “We are con­tin­u­ing to in­ves­ti­gate this col­li­sion in which a much-loved fam­ily man lost his life.

“We are keen to hear from any­one who saw Mr Blin­man or the Volvo lorry in the mo­ments be­fore the col­li­sion, or in­deed the col­li­sion it­self.

“We’d also like to hear from any­one who may have cap­tured the in­ci­dent on a dash­cam, CCTV or mo­bile phone.”
