Jimmy Walker Me­mo­rial Match: Pon­ty­cymer R.F.C. 24 - Llangeinor A.F.C 24

Now in its 17th year, the an­nual Box­ing Day Jimmy Walker me­mo­rial match, be­tween Pon­ty­cymer Rugby Club and Llangeinor Foot­ball Club, proved to be an­other Christ­mas cracker.

The game is played in mem­ory of Jimmy Walker-Hal­stead, who be­came a Llangeinor F. C. stal­wart, not only on the field but off the field as well when for many years he was in­volved in the day to day run­ning of the club.

Be­fore he turned to foot­ball, a teenage Jimmy played a few times for Pon­ty­cymer rugby.

The match this year lived up to its big billing, with a fan­tas­ti­cally en­ter­tain­ing game. Points on the days for Llangeinor came from tries by Josh Tame, Jake Lewis, Kai Lewis, and Lee Abra­ham, with Jake Lewis and Brian Tame fir­ing over a con­ver­sion each.
