Porthcawl Befriendin­g Group: The Porthcawl Befriendin­g Group provides free activities for lonely people and those who want to befriend them.

Free tea/coffee while chatting around a table, free bingo and table games, beginners Health and Wellbeing Tai Chi, etc.

Members can bring children but regrettabl­y no pets.

Where is this you may ask?

Griffin Park Community Centre in New Road from 11am- 12noon every Wednesday.

Membership is free but numbers are limited.

Porthcawl Lion’s Car Boot Sale: This popular weekly event is back every Sunday (weather permitting), from 8am until 12 noon on the Porthcawl RFC playing field off South Road Porthcawl CF36 3DA.

I have to say well done to the Lions who have the site cleared and left in pristine condition by 12.30pm.

Porthcawl Veterans Hub: Don’t forget that the new Porthcawl based Veteran’s Hub offers a NAAFI Break on Saturday mornings in the Wellbeing Centre adjacent to the tennis courts at Griffin Park where veterans can meet with other veterans, raise their problems and get advice.

Women’s Rugby: New for 2019/20. The Porthcawl RFC has now introduced Women’s Rugby to Porthcawl and are advertisin­g for experience­d player s to form a team, get fit, meet new friends and just have fun.

Training is on Wednesday evenings from 7.15pm-8.30pm at the Club ground off South Road.

Cream Tea in Aid of Latch and Sandville Self Help Centre: A Cream Tea in aid of Latch and The Sandville SHC has been arranged in All Saints Church in Victoria Avenue Porthcawl on Sunday, September 1 starting at 3pm.

Tickets are £10 and there will be a mini-bar, light entertainm­ent and a raffle.
