BRACKLA Harriers and Ogmore Phoenix runners backed the Cardiff Summer Sizzler 5K event last week that Les Croupiers once again staged.

Paul Graham (Pontypridd Roadents) was victorious in 15:25 from Ben Butler-Madden (Penarth & Dinas Runners) 15:49 and Charlotte Arter (Cardiff AAC) 15:50.

Ian Ogilvie (Brackla Harries) took 33rd place, completing the course in 19:18, and finished ahead of Aled Hughes (Ogmore Phoenix) 19:25 (34th) and six members of the Brackla Harriers club - Colin McQueen 19:31 (35th), Ryan Bunce 20:29 (51st), Matthew Bunce 20:47 (53rd), Gary Adams 20:52 (55th), Robbie Oliver 20:53 (56th ) and Ian Cuthbert 22:05 (70th).

Gareth Jenkins finished in 21:40 (65) and Nicky Harris (both Ogmore Phoenix) 22:07 (71 st).

And Jane Ogilvie (Brackla Harriers) was 22nd female in 23:17. ADRIAN Pearce (Ogmore Phoenix) was fourth in the 40-plus category at the Brecon 10-Mile Road Race.

Penlan was the venue for the event with Pearce finishing 19th overall courtesy of 65:57, and he was followed across the finishing line by Ogmore Phoenix colleagues in Anthony Phillips (Bridgend) 81:38 (24th 50+), Dave Kembery 89:00 (30th 40+), Brian Cotton 90:03 (32nd 40+) and Elizabeth Sim 93:08 (50th female, 22 nd 40+).

Dan Hamilton pulled off a win in 53:38 from San Domenico teammate Luke Williams 55:43 and Matt Jones (Brecon) 56:15. TWO members of the Ogmore Phoenix club recorded noteworthy times in one of the toughest races on the athletics calendar.

He sliced 10 seconds off a previous best 7:52 to edge out consistent winner Dan May (Cornelly Striders), who came home in 7:50.
