OGMORE VALLEY

- Owen Sendell

In addition the Club’s draft Annual Accounts will be presented by The Treasurer.

The past year has been a bumper year for the club and the reports presented will no doubt reflect the well being of the club, its committee’s smooth administration and will detail the series of successful events that have taken part during the year.

The reports will be followed by the election of the officers and committee members who will serve the club in the forthcoming year, an important year, which will see Laleston Gardening Club celebrate its 50th Anniversary. AGM’s are important events in the calender of any organisation and anyone with an interest in the club are encouraged to come along and get an insight into what goes on behind the walls of Cliff Cottage, this beautiful Grade II Listed Building in the heart of the village of Laleston.

Closely following the AGM on Monday, October 14 will be the Club’s first lecture of the year starting at 7.30pm in Cliff Cottage, when Joseph Atkins is making his first visit to the club to give a talk entitled 12 Months in the Life of Aberglasney.

Joseph is the Head Gardner at Aberglasney an has a lifetime of experience in horticulture. Please join us to give him a warm welcome.

Attendances at lectures this year has been superb and it is hoped this trend continues.

New members can enrol on the night and sample what the Club has to offer.

On Friday, September 27 the Club held its popular traditional harvest supper. Once again the ladies section took the lead and provided a delicious ham salad, with all the trimmings followed by a choice of home made tart or trifle.

The tables each had vases of flowers picked from the Club’s garden and a happy atmosphere prevailed as usual.

The Autumn Winter edition of the Club magazine, edited by Sue Ford, has now been published and is available, free of charge, from Cliff Cottage.

Why not come to our next advertised lecture or event and meet some of our members.

We will be happy to tell you about the benefits of joining

this friendly, well established local club.

Andy’s Man Club is a Registered Charity which provides a peer to peer support group for men with the aim of cutting the tragic number of suicides of young men occurring in England and Wales.

This is the biggest killer of men under 45 with 1 man every 2 hours being the figure quoted. A lot of these cases might be avoided if people only had an opportunity to talk to others who could understand what they were going through.

Well the opportunity does exist here in Porthcawl with a group meeting in Porthcawl RFC off South Road (CF36 3DA) every Monday evening (Except Bank Holidays). Or check out their website or talk to them on #ITSOKTOTALK
