TADAS: Tondu and District Art Society (TADAS) opened their recent exhibition at
The Len Evans’ Centre, Aberkenfig with another very enjoyable and highly successful preview evening.
The hall was again full with members and invited guests.
TADAS was pleased to have the company of the Past Mayor of the County Borough, Councillor John McCarthy and his consort, Mrs Judy McCarthy.
Many TADAS members took part in the painting competition entitled Winter Scene which was judged by David Phillips from Cowbridge Art Society.
The winner of this competition was Keith Evans for his painting of The Beacons.
Highly Commended was Winter Wonder by Chris Richards, and Commended was Snowdonia by Vicki Washbourne.
The older pupils of Tondu Primary School also took part in a similar competition, Winter
Scene that Tadas had arranged for them and the winners were 1st - Simon Wang; 2nd – Oscar Marsh; Joint 3rd – Abigail Jones and Finley Williams.
The exhibition was open to the public for five days during which there were 155 framed paintings on display as well as a number of unframed paintings and greetings cards.
The favourite painting voted by the visiting public was Mesmerised by Jan Hoskins.
The society received many comments from visitors who were impressed by the high standard of paintings on display and the artistic talent displayed by TADAS members.
Wesley Church: There will be a number of special services in the Tondu Wesley Church over the Christmas period in addition to the regular Sunday services each week at 10.30am and
3pm.
On Wednesday, December 18 at 5.30pm, there is a carol service with contributions by Tondu Primary School choir and on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24, there is a Christingle service at 5.30pm.
All are welcome to these events.
St Robert’s: Masses at St Robert’s, Aberkenfig, over Christmas are as follows: Christmas Vigil on Christmas Eve at 8pm; on Christmas Day at 11am and on St Stephen’s Day at 10am.
